COVID-19 Updates

Date(s) - 20/03/2020
All Day

Dear MountyChurch members,

Please see a message from Pastor Dave at

We're working hard to prepare an online solution so we can meet together. In the meantime, please keep Sunday at 10am free as we plan to meet digitally from 29 March 2020 onwards.

If you aren't already, subscribe to our church mailing list to be kept up to date by filling out the form at

In an effort to contain COVID-19, the Australian Government has advised that all non-essential gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 100 people, and further constrained to one person every four square meters.

In keeping with the new regulations and for the safety of our church congregants, the Leadership Team have decided to suspend all church services from this Sunday (22 March 2020) until further notice.

In the meantime, please uphold the situation in prayer.  The Leadership Team sees this as an opportunity for the church to be a light among the community.  We hold fast to our vision:

A community joyfully committed to living the transforming love & hope of Jesus.

“A planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor”

Isaiah 61:3d

The Leadership Team is discussing how this impacts current ministries and is working on how to develop connectivity in this current climate.  E.g live streaming services.  We are aiming to have this up and running by next Sunday (29 March 2020).  So expect another update from us in the near future! All updates will be published on our website ( or emailed to you if you are on our distribution list.

Note: If you know of Mounty congregants that are not connected on the net or email, please keep them updated.

  1. Please do not come to church if:
    1. you are sick or at risk – any symptoms including but not limited to cough, sore-throat, shortness of breath.
    2. You have travelled overseas in the past 14 days.
    3. Been in contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient.
    4. Inform us if you have been infected so that we can support you and keep you in our prayers.

  1. Church Service – We will continue our regular church services and restrict attendance to no more than 100 people.

  1. Practice good Hygiene - COVID-19 is cleaned away by adequate hand-washing with soap or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. To prevent viral transmission you should:
    1. Avoid coughing or sneezing on your hands, if you need to cough you should cough into a tissue or the crook of your elbow.
    2. Avoid hand to hand contact with others such as shaking hands, you can smile and nod instead.
    3. Avoid touching your face when around other people.
    4. Use hand sanitiser on arrival and when leaving, from church or any other ministry activity. We are attempting to source sufficient quantities of hand sanitiser to use at church, but the safest option is to bring your own and keep it with you at all times.
    5. Hand sanitiser should be used to wash all children hands on arrival to and departure from children’s ministries.

Food Service - Where food is deemed necessary to the ministry, single-use gloves will be supplied, and no food can be prepared or handled without the use of gloves.

    1. No one who is unwell should be preparing, touching, or serving food or drink that will be eaten by others.
    2. Even if well, anyone preparing or serving food to others should exercise excellent hand hygiene (washing hands thoroughly with soap and water), and ideally wearing gloves.
    3. Communion will be served in individual cups prepared by a single person wearing gloves.
